About

This blog came about as a result of a seminar I took in my first semester of college. My professor asked us to create a list of five things in this world that disempower us. From those five things, we narrowed it down to one, which became our focus for the rest of the semester.

I chose the American Healthcare System. My mom is a self-employed healthcare provider, so I've been exposed to the provider side of healthcare for quite awhile now. From my experiences in her office, I've realized how much of a monopoly insurance companies hold over the entire system.

In class, my professor asked us to work on projects, not big ones, that could help us feel slightly more empowered against this issue that we had identified. I noticed that one of the largest reasons I felt disempowered was just my lack of knowledge regarding how the system even works. Thus, this blog was born. I hope that people like me can learn a little bit more about this large aspect in their lives and make more informed decisions.
